Your motivation letter – perfectly worded!

Motivated? You bet! Now just write it down...

Every application to the RSU in Riga must include a  ‘motivation letter’. The admissions committee has very specific ideas about the form, structure and content of this letter. The motivation letter is considered a very important document for the application.

Three useful tips and a piece of advice

    1. First things first!

Work thematically and start with your strongest references at the moment. Don't structure your cover letter in a biographical or chronological way. So don't start with your time in primary school and work your way through junior high and high school until the readers realise that you have just completed your training as an intensive care nurse.

    2. Keep your language and graphics clear!

Make sure you reserve at least one paragraph for each topic you discuss. When a new topic begins, start a new paragraph. Also, keep your language clear and do not change narrative or linguistic styles.

    3. Pay attention to names and terms!

For example, make sure you spell the name of the university correctly. Translate the names of employers or training programmes into English so that they are understandable to readers from another country. If necessary, briefly explain the types of training, further education or studies.

Our advice: Don't copy other people's texts, however beautiful they may be. Do your own thing instead! DIY!!
